What is this?

A competition event is being held before MIX 09 (the MIX conference is a gathering of designers and developers who are building the world’s most innovative web sites.)

In this competition, participants are required to create a Silverlight Application with source file size (solution files are not included) less than 10 kilobytes.

Grand Prize

The winner of this competition can get the following:

  • Champion:a pass to the MIX09 event, 3 nights at The Venetian Hotel and a $1500 Visa gift card
  • Community choice winner: $1500 visa gift card
  • Three runners-up: $500 Visa gift card

What’s my idea?

That’s a nice competition and I am going to join it. I have planned to create a Flickr Image Rotator Application. In this application, the user will be able to search images from Flickr and display it with various kind of rotators. Those rotators will includes my previous implementation like Grid Transition Rotator, Exploded Image Rotator, etc..

But of course, I am really not sure if I could finish all of the stuff by a file size of 10K!

If you are interested to join the competition with me, please visit MIX 09 - 10K Challenge for detail!

Personally, I really love Christmas. You can see that most of the samples I shared recently are linked to Christmas.

Anyway, the sample today probably will be the last one in the Christmas series. It is a Christmas Ecard I created (again, many years ago) for a Christmas Ecard Competition.

Well, only one day left for Xmas! Remember to send your E-card Greeting at Pencake Christmas Ecard!

Another RIA technology JavaFx was officially launched on 04 Dec 2008.

More information can be found on http://www.javafx.com/

From what I see from the demos and samples, I believe it will be a big competitor for Flash and Silverlight.

JavaFx on ShineDraw?

One of the developer from Sun Microsystems approached me and asked if I am interested to study about JavaFx.

Well, my answer is positive. It will be quite interesting if additional technology can be added to my samples.

Anyway, let me study JavaFx a bit more before I can come up with any plan.

Few days ago, I found an interesting Flash Ecard made by me 8 years ago.

At that time, I was still using Flash 4 and the Ecard is completely horrible. Well, through it’s ugly, you will never get improved if you didn’t try your first step.

Same as before, source code is attached:
